This is what they've said of the trip in November 2002....
IF you want
to really master Wing Chun you need to take yourself to Hong Kong and train
with the best in the world.
Last November I was able to do this when Sifu Kwok organised a trip to Hong
Kong and China. We went to train with Grand Master Ip Chun and his students
in Kowloon and then joined them in Foshan, China, for the opening of an
incredible museum in honour of Ip Chun’s late father, Ip Man.
In Hong Kong, the students spend most of their time practising Chi Sau (double
sticking hands). I only had my first lesson in this about a month before
the trip, so I was pretty nervous about coming up against the best people
on the planet. When we got there, though, the students were really friendly
and helpful and seemed to have endless patience as they reminded me time
and again to “keep your elbows in!” We even got to have a go
with the Grand Master himself.
The trip wasn’t all training, and Sifu Kwo introduced us to many of
his relatives and showed us some of the sights of Hong Kong and China. Among
the highlights was shopping for DVDs and cheap Rolex watches in Temple Street
night market, going on a boat trip to Lama Island for an all day beach barbecue,
a three-hour body massage and visiting the village in China where Sifu Kwok’s
father lived.
None of us wanted to come home at the end of the trip, but sitting on the
plane on the way back to England, we all knew we would go back again one
day.

What an amazing time
I've had. I had never been abroad before, let alone going all the way to
the Far East. Sifu Kwok looked after all of us and made sure we got the
best of everything and even helped us to haggle for the best prices. Training
with so many highly skilled practitioners was just out of this world and
the best things were are that they are so friendly and giving. My Sifu is
certainly an extension of this family. Si-Gong Grand Master Ip Chun still
have those twinkles in his eyes as I had remembered when he visited our
club. I also had the chance to get on stage at the opening of Ip Man Tong
(Museum) and do my bit being part of the demonstration team. I felt so proud
being a part of it all and hearing so many compliments from so many other
Associations. For me the two weeks just flew by, and look forward to my
trip with Sifu and his wife (Rong Rong) to Beijing and also get together
with my girlfriend introduced by Rong Rong.

I have been
to Hong Kong twice previously, once with a well known tour operator and
once with a friend. This time I had the opportunity to visit Hong Kong (City
of Life) again, but this time with my friend Kwok. I am not a practitioner
of Wing Chun, but saw the itinery and felt that I just had to go. I was
so glad that I did. This time around I have seen and experienced things
that both my previous trips put together did not even match this one. The
culture, excursions, mountain walks, Temples, Opening of the Ip Man Tong,
Karaoke, Low Cost Technology, Food, and need I say the beautiful people
(ladies). Thanks Kwok for that experience, and the hospitality from your
family. The things that I would never have experienced with any tour company.

I'm one for bargains and to see anything
new that is outside of the Uk. Being a member training in Chelmsford, I
took this trip not knowing anything about the Far East I placed my faith
in my Sifu, Kwok Cheung. I was very glad that I did. Not only did I see
and experienced things that was out of this world I also got bargains, which
other wise would cost around 5 times as much in the UK. I feel that I want
to just save and spend in Hong Kong once a year. Sifu also spent alot of
time with me when for the third week he took me to places that was just
not on the itinery, but only known by the locals. Restaurants that cooks
fresh seafood, and exotic vegetables, which helped me to lose two stones
on this trip. Sifu also took me to find even better bargains in China, and
the excellent foot and body massage. The training I received in Hong Kong
and being part of the Ip Man Tong Opening is something that will stay with
me for the rest of my life, and for me I feel that I am proud to be part
of all this. Also this trip has definitely assured me that I am with one
of the very best Wing Chun Associations in the UK as I have been to others
since my career takes me to different regions of the UK. I'm glad that I
also got to know a little on the private side of my Sifu, which I have realised
he is such a laugh outside of the class a vast contrast to when he is in
teaching mode. I highly recommend anyone to take this trip.
